Terms and Conditions
- Closing date for entries is noon on 31 October 2008.
- Unless otherwise stated,
the competition is open to all residents of the UK and ROI.
- One entry per person.
The winner is responsible for ensuring they are able to accept the prize as set
out and in accordance with these terms and conditions, in the event they are unable
to do so then Blackpool Council reserves the right to re-award the prize. Entrants
must be over 18 years of age; or have the permission of their parent/ guardian -
this permission must be confirmed before any prize will be awarded.
- Entry is
free but entrants should be aware that they may be subject to local call charges
depending on their own individual arrangements for Internet access.
- An eligible
entrant must be an individual and must submit an entry via the competion website
www.blackpool.gov.uk/love and complete the details required on the form.
- By entering,
all eligible entrants agree to abide by each and all these terms and conditions.
Blackpool Council reserves the right, with or without cause, to exclude entrants
and withhold prizes for violating any of these terms and conditions. Blackpool Council
reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions. Any amendments will be published
on the website www.blackpool.gov.uk/love
- Each entrant must submit photographs
in jpeg format; together with their name, address, contact telephone number and
email address. Photographs should address the theme "Love Blackpool". The photograph
should be the entrants own work and should have been taken during 2008. Entrants
represent and warrant that they are not professional photographers and that their
entry does not infringe the privacy rights, copyright or any other rights of any
person. Obscene or inappropriate photographs will not be accepted and Blackpool
Council reserves the right to reject any photographs for any reason. Prior to submitting
a photograph of any identifiable individual, entrants should obtain the consent
of such person and advise them of the purpose of the submission and that their photograph
may be published by Blackpool Council (including in local press).
- In submitting
any entry, entrants agree and confirm that in respect of any materials submitted
– including any text, photographs, graphics, video or audio, that they grant to
the Blackpool Borough Council a perpetual, royalty free, non-exclusive, sub-licensable
right and licence to use, exhibit, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, distribute,
perform, play, make available to the public and exercise all copyright and publicity
rights in respect of all such materials and/or to incorporate such materials in
other works in any media for the full term of any rights which may exist in respect
of such materials.
- The winner will be notified by email within fourteen (14)
days from the closing date. All reasonable endeavours will be made to contact the
winner during this time. If a winner cannot be contacted or is not available, Blackpool
Council reserves the right to re-select another winner from the entries which were
received before the closing date.
- Finalists will be required to provide a copy
of their image at full resolution, via email, before being officially forwarded
to the public vote.
- There is one prize for each age group. The winner will be
the entrant whose photograph, in the opinion of the judges, demonstrates the greatest
flair, technique and originality.
- The prize is a TomTom GO 930 Traffic Satellite
navigation system for entrants over 18 and a Canon Powershot camera for those under
18. One runner up will also receive an Ipod shuffle. There is no other alternative,
cash or otherwise, to the prize stated and the prize is not transferable and no
part or parts of the prize may be substituted for other benefits, items or additions.
- Blackpool Council reserves the right at any time to cancel, modify or supersede
the competition (including altering prizes) if, in their sole discretion, the competition
is not capable of being conducted as specified. Blackpool Council reserves the right
to substitute a prize of equal value in the event that circumstances beyond their
control make this unavoidable.
- The winner may be required to submit valid identification
before receiving their prize.
- The judges’ decision regarding the 24 photographs
selected as finalists is final and binding on the entrants. No correspondence will
be entered into. These photographs will then be open to a public contest at www.blackpool.gov.uk/love
and the winners will be those who receive most votes.
- Blackpool Council will
not be liable for technical, hardware, or software failures of any kind or lost
or unavailable network connections which may limit or prohibit an eligible entrant's
ability to participate in the competition.
- By entering, any subsequent prize
winners agree to allow the free use of their names, photographs and general locations
for publicity and news purposes during this and future promotions by Blackpool Council.
- Blackpool Council reserves the right to publish all or parts of entries including
the winning entry, and publication does not necessarily mean that the entrant has
won a prize. Blackpool Council reserves the right to edit entries at its discretion
for publication. Entrants will retain copyright in their submitted entries; however,
by entering, all entrants give Blackpool Council a worldwide royalty free perpetual
licence to edit, publish and use all or segments of each entry in any and all media
(including print and online) for publicity and news purposes.
- Uses of personal
data received by Blackpool Council in the course of the promotion are subject to
the privacy policy found on the website. Winners' names may be published on the
Website (follow Privacy Statement at bottom right of homepage at www.blackpool.gov.uk).
- Entrants will be requested to agree to accept these terms and conditions as
part of their entry.
- The promoter of this competition is Blackpool Council.

Competiton, Blackpool Council, Policy and Communications Department, Town Hall,
Blackpool FY1 1AD. Competition entries will not be accepted at this address but
must be provided electronically via the email address provided.
